I remind women of how beautiful they are, by way of Intimate and Beauty Portraiture.
Why in this way? Why this particular style?
In a world that persuades us daily to dislike ourselves, and a culture that stigmatizes sexuality and female sensuality, it takes courage to love what we’ve got and express ourselves without shame. Sensuality is normal. Our bodies are normal. Let’s own it.
When’s the last time you looked at a photo of yourself and thought “That’s me?! I’m freaking gorgeous!”
I get it… because I’ve been there. I create with this style of imagery because I know firsthand how it feels to look at a photo of myself, or look at myself in the mirror, and feel ashamed of what I see. Or playing the comparison game, like, “I used to be ____”.
Do you feel that same way, sometimes? Wondering how you even got to where you’re at today? Wishing what you see in the mirror could match what you see in your mind? Embarrassed to look at yourself in your underwear, or even – GASP – naked?!
Listen, maybe someone, somewhere, taught you that your body is shameful, right? Maybe it was a magazine cover that made you feel your body wasn’t what it “should be”. Maybe it was that shitty ex who made you feel ugly. Maybe your body has changed, and it’s been hard adjusting to your new reflection and capabilities. It doesn’t really matter “what got you there.”
What matters is what you’re going to do next, and how you’re going to change those thoughts and beliefs about who you are, and how you feel about yourself.
It’s a big journey; one that starts and ends inside yourself. I know from experience (on both ends of the camera) that creating thrilling photos of your outer beauty can be an impactful and empowering step toward appreciating your inner beauty.
Just by showing up, putting on your brave-woman panties, strutting around my studio like Beyoncé, admiring your own body, cellulite and jiggly bits and all… that’s a HUGE statement to yourself about the courageous woman you deserve to embody.
It’s time we all start to love our insides and outsides, and celebrate our power and beauty.
Are you ready to shake it up a little, step into a fun and empowering experience, see yourself in a new light, feel confident about your body, and celebrate your beauty through Intimate Portraiture?
If so, I can hardly wait to meet you.
