Curt and Breena invited me as their Destination Wedding Photographer in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. As soon as my assistant and I reached the airport, and met up with Breena and Curt’s family and friends, we knew immediately that this would be a fun week!
On the plane, the wedding group was making noise, singing, cracking jokes, as the excitement grew. Upon arriving to the Puerto Vallarta airport, our bus driver greeted us with warm hellos and a cooler of cold beers.
The Denysiuks’ destination wedding happened near the beginning of the week-long event. The girls meticulously prepared the bride in one room, with Bridesmaids Kari and Yvonne doing Breena’s makeup and hair. Bridesmaids Kelsey and Chylann were on dress and jewellery duty, not to mention keeping the precious flower girl entertained.
On the other side of the hotel, the boys got together in a different fashion; drinking beer and cracking jokes, pulling their handsome selves together in a matter of about five minutes. Go figure!
They were married on a gorgeous sunny (and windy!) afternoon. Chairs were set out on the beach, with the sun beating down. Thankfully, Curtis and Breena had thought of everything, and had custom-made white sunglasses set out on every chair.
Breena’s Grandma serenaded the group with her version of Etta James’ “At Last”, and tears rolled. (I felt my own throat tighten, and had to fight back waterworks…) Vows and proceedings were short and sweet, and the ceremony ended in an uproar of applause for the newly married Mr and Mrs Denysiuk.
I spent most of the day with the bridal party, who were a ton of fun! There was a lot of laughter, a lot of joking around, and a lot of slushy drinks. (Thank you, all-inclusive resort!)
Uhhmmmm, how gorgeous is this wedding party?!
With a resort as beautiful as the Riu Vallarta, I don’t think we could have asked for a better backdrop.
Formals ended on the beach at sunset, followed by reception dinner and sharing around a collection of photos from Curt and Breena’s younger days. What a great way to get the crowd reminiscing, and sharing stories of how the couple came to be.
Speeches were held on the evening-set beach, lit by incandescent bulbs hanging overhead. It had such a romantic feel, and everyone was feeling sentimental.
After all the emotions, everyone was ready to drink and party! The resort set up something really fun that came with the DJ service; a light-up dance floor! Have you ever seen something like this before? The wedding guests loved it.
A couple days after their wedding, Breena and Curtis decided to have a little fun with their formal attire. We took to the beach and had some laughs “trashing” the dress!
Congratulations, again, to Breena and Curtis. Thank you so much for bringing me along as your Destination Wedding Photographer.
Have you got any kind words for this happy couple? I’m sure they’d love to hear it. Please leave them a comment below.
