Helen & Willie called me from Ontario to book a family session. At first I was confused, looking again mid conversation at the number showing up on my phone, wondering if it was a gag. Then she clarified that her adult children all live in Saskatchewan, and the entire extended family would be gathering for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. (“Ohhhhhkayyyyyyyy. Yes, let’s do this.”)
All of their children and grandchildren met on a Saturday morning at her daughter Sharon & Vince’s gorgeous yard down Moose Plains Road. The house, still under construction, is a treat to the eyes....
In December, I held a model call for winter stock imagery models. The intention was to create marketable stock imagery for external licensing usage.
More than that, it was an excuse for me to capture portraits our beautiful northeastern Saskatchewan winter wonderland. The models and I froze and chattered our way through a crazily cold day, and worked together to create some beautiful images.
The photos shown here are only the selections that the models requested to have prints of, and just the tip of the iceberg...
Meagan is expecting her first baby VERY soon!
I've been impatiently waiting to meet her Little Mister.
We did our session together outside of Codette, Saskatchewan, at the rural family home where she grew up.
We had to fight off the bitter cold snap that came on that day, but at least the sun graced us with its presence, and made for some beautiful Winter Wonderland maternity photos.
Do you have any kind of words of encouragement or love or advice for Meagan, as she becomes a mother? Comment below :)
My brother Niclas and his partner, Melissa, are expecting their first-born very soon. I can hardly hold back my excitement!
We did their maternity session at our parents' place. It was a SUPER cold day, so needless to say, Melissa and I were eager to get indoors near the fireplace.
Melissa moved to Nipawin from Canmore, Alberta on a nursing contract. She met my brother, they fell in love, she decided to stay in Nipawin, and the rest is history. Not only am I gaining a sister, but a niece too! Lucky me!
Have you got any words of encouragement or support...
As a gift to Grandma and Grandpa, the Harrison families asked me to photograph the branch of them living in and around Nipawin, Saskatchewan.
For Christmas, Bob and Doreen surprised Grandma Dorothy & Grandpa Doug with a custom designed album of their favourite photos from the day.
Scott and Brettyn (my sister!) are planning their wedding for summer 2016. I'm SO excited to watch their family grow.
Kate and her husband Jesse are expecting their first born very soon!
[UPDATE: Their healthy baby girl was born just days after this blog post went live]
It was important to the Harrison...
I've known Mataya for a few years, but we hadn't spoken in a while. When she contacted me about pre-graduation photos out of the blue, I was super stoked (a) to catch up and (b) to photograph a total beauty!
UPDATE: Mataya has now graduated. Check out that session here.
This girl is fun, smart and friendly, all wrapped up in pretty packaging.
Mataya had a few ideas for her pre-grad session, including this "Grad 2016" chalkboard that her dad made for her.
We did some quick family photos with her dad, brother, and fur-baby. Then she and I played in the autumn grass together for a while.
To celebrate her father Mark's 50th birthday, Amanda (on the left) gathered the whole family together for a photoshoot.
Her daughter played shy at first, but eventually opened up, and put on a show. It took some coaxing, and promises of future ice cream, but look at this girl, finally hamming it up for the camera!
Amanda’s son didn’t find it quite as difficult to be photographed, and he eagerly showed off his gorgeous smile in no time.
Coming from a tight-knit unit myself, I’m a big fan of families that remain close and spend time together. I had a lot of fun watching...
